A Very Special Heart Review and Giveaway

Posted by Ellie-A Little of This and a Little of That at 12:19 PM
I  recently reviewed the most useful product ever.  Everyone should have one.  It's called A Very Special Heart.  That's exactly what it is!  It's a heart or globe shape on a necklace or a key chain that contains all of your very important medical information.   Allergies, medications, illnesses your being treated for, past medical history, everything that a doctor would need in an emergency.

They come in a heart or globe shape and as a necklace or key chain and silver or gold.

Inside these hearts and globes is a USB chip that allows you to download all your information that is needed in an emergency.  You can also keep your whole families information.  There is also space inside the heart or globe to keep a couple of pills.  Like your heart medication, or maybe a few aspirin.  But inside that little heart or globe is all your medical information.

Of course there are people that would need it:
If you live in an area prone to natural disasters, like:
  • Hurricanes
  • Earthquakes
  • Fires
  • Floods
  • Tornadoes
  • Or other natural disasters
Your Very Special Heart™ and Globe also allows you to carry copies of all your important documents. In times of emergency – you’ll have access to: insurance policies, driver’s licenses, credit cards, birth certificates, and all your other important documents. Copies of these documents are not only necessary, but in these times of emergency - invaluable.

Here is what A Very Special Heart Sent me and with all my illnesses I feel a lot safer knowing I have this and they have quick access to everything, especially being a person with diabetes and seizure disorder.

Important Documents

Your Very Special Heart™ and Globe have a unique document storage feature giving you two options for document storage – Public and Private. You choose which documents will be Public (readily available to emergency personnel) and which will be Private (password protected and encrypted).

Option 1- Public Documents, such as:

  • Medical release forms
  • Parental consent forms
  • Organ donor information
  • DNR information - make sure your wishes are followed
  • X-rays and MRIs - that may assist emergency personnel
These Public Documents are viewable at any time - along with your Emergency Medical Information page. This way they are immediately available to emergency personnel in the event you are incapacitated.

Option 2 - Private Documents, such as:

  • Passports - essential for traveling
  • Visas
  • Driver’s licenses - always have a copy if yours is lost or stolen
  • Advance directives
  • Credit cards - for immediate cancellation or renewal
  • All other important documents
These documents are password protected and encrypted by your Very Special Heart™ software. They remain private until you use your password to login to your Very Special Heart™ or Globe.

To let the EMS or hospital personnel or doctors know you have this heart or globe there is a Wallet Card, you carry in your wallet to let them know.  Normally the first place someone would look is in your wallet for identification and now they will see this:

Persons at Risk

If you or someone in your family has a chronic medical condition, like:
  • Convulsions
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Disease
  • Asthma
  • Allergies
  • Epilepsy
  • Alzheimer’s
  • COPD
Or other chronic medical conditions
~then you already know how accurate medical information and emergency medication can impact their health and happiness. Having your Very Special Heart™ or Globe with you at all times reassures you that no matter what dire medical emergency you face - panic and confusion can be mitigated. When 9-1-1 responds, your Very Special Heart™ or Globe will provide EMTs and doctors with all the information they need to provide life saving medical care for you or your loved ones.

Right from the site:

Included in the purchase of your Very Special Heart™ or Globe is a free 90-day enrollment in our Very Special Heart Service, which includes:

My sister in law is (only 38)and has asthma, a heart problem and is allergic to all NSAIDS and many other medicines (at least 20). One time she had a medical issue that left her unconscious. Obviously, she was unable to give the EMT a list of meds she was allergic to; they ALMOST administered a medication that she is DEATHLY allergic to-- fortunately my brother arrived JUST as they were about to administer it! This could have helped avoid situations like that. Her medication list is so long that it cannot fit on a normal medical ID bracelet or necklace. She has to carry it on a regular sized paper in her purse (which tends to get tattered). lockwoodmerrie@yahoo.com

My daughter takes very specialized medicine and has a very somewhat rare medical problem. One day we were out and she needed to be rushed to the hospital. I keep a sheet on the refrigerator with her medications and a brief notes on her problems.

I wish I had it when this happened.

I went into a diabetic coma last summer and my husband couldn't remember all my medication allergies and how much medication I was on, so that left the doctor and nurses unsure of my history and what to watch out for. Fortunately, my husband went home and got my meds bottles, but it could have been serious.

This would come in handy because I have severe allergies to medications and if given them I could die. This would alert Emergency personnel.

This would be great for my hubby as he travels for 2 weeks once a year to Costa Rica by himself and just wings it after he gets there.

One time he was fishing at the water and left his backpack up on the beach. Someone came along and stole his backpack which of course has his passport, ID, airline tix and everything else in it.

Thank goodness another person saw it happen and tracked the guy down and got the backpack back. If he hadn't done that, I'm not sure what my hubby would have done without any kind of ID.

My husband takes blood thinners because he has an artificial heart valve. I took him to the emergency room one day because he had a debilitating headache for several days in a row. If I had had all his medical information available electronically, maybe we wouldn't have sat waiting for hours in the emergency room, when it turns out he had a subdural hematoma. It still upsets me a lot to think about it.

My husband has severe migraines. One day he was with our (at the time) 3 year old in a town 3 hours away. He had one of the worst migraines of his life. It would have been great to have all of his RX info in one place.

This would have been handy at our last trip to the ER

This could be a life saver for me. I'm allergic to almost every antibiotic and have low adrenal function; I would need Cortisol in an emergency situation. I should be wearing one of these!

In 2004 my family lost all of our possessions in a flood. All important documents were ruined and could not be salvaged. This would have came in handy

This would come in handy for my daughter, who is allergic to penicillan. So far, there hasn't been a time when we couldn't communicate that to the doctor, but you never know when an emergency will occur. I think everyone should have this!

I have a medically fragile daughter and this would be an easy way to carry her information with me at all times.

I also have a Special Needs Resource and giveaway blog and will add A Very Special Heart to my emergency directory when I update it next month.

This locket would have come in handy
when my house burned down years
ago and all our family information was in the house and not in a
fireproof box.We had to go around
and try to collect all of the infro
from different sources. It was a real
headache
