I'm a Grandma Again :)

Posted by Ellie-A Little of This and a Little of That at 10:18 PM 5 comments
I'm a grandmother again to a beautiful baby girl.  7 lbs. 60z. and 19 inches long.  I'm still waiting for pictures.  I hate living 7 hours away.  They named her Charisma Presley.  Not too sure about the name I guess it will have to grow on me.  lol  My grandson Sebastian whom in a earlier post was not happy about a girl baby, changed his mind and loves her.  He wants to hold her and help mom all the time.  So Phew.  As soon as I get pictures I will post them.  I love being a grandma.

To Curl or Not to Curl

Posted by Ellie-A Little of This and a Little of That at 1:28 PM 167 comments
With the Power of Pink Infiniti by Conair You Style Multi Functional Styling Iron, that's the question you ask yourself on a daily basis. Should I curl it or not and with the Power of Pink Infiniti by Conair you have that choice because it's a curling iron and a straightener all in one. This one is special because it is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. You can make your hair real curly, or just wavy depending on how much hair you take at a time to slip the curling iron around. The less hair and more heat, the curlier the curl. The Power of Pink Infiniti by conair is made out of Nano Silver Tourmaline Ceramic Technology. Here is some information from the website:
  • From the purchase of this styling item, $1.00 is donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation by Conair
  • Multi-functional tool – curl or straighten
  • Revolutionary design – makes curling as easy as straightening
  • Fast and easy – curls, waves and creates body in a single stroke
  • Nano Silver Tourmaline Ceramic technology – unites micro particles of tourmaline ceramic and silver for a unique combination of technologies that emits frizz-reducing natural ions and creates clean, healthy-looking hair
  • 1" ceramic-coated straightening plates
  • 30-second instant heat*
  • High heat levels – 360°F/180°C
  • Uniform heat recovery – heat recovery system maintains optimum heat levels for perfect curls
  • Auto-off
  • 6-foot salon swivel cord
  • Limited two-year warranty
  • They also include a How To CD.
The lovely people from Conair sent me 2 of the Power of Pink Infiniti by Conair You Style Multi Functional Styling Irons. I gave one to my sister-in-law and kept one for myself. Now my sister-in-law has longer hair than mine so I thought that would be a good comparison. She stated she enjoyed the curling iron/straightener. At first she thought it made her hair too curly until she experimented with the heat controls and fixed the heat lower and then her hair wasn't so curly.

Now one of my lucky readers is going to win one. All you have to do is leave a comment about the new guidelines for mammography that have come out recently from The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. Do you agree or disagree and why. (THIS IS MANDATORY)

Soup of the Day

Posted by Ellie-A Little of This and a Little of That at 10:48 AM 133 comments
Earlier this year I did a Vlog about the New High Fiber Progresso Soups. You can see it here: Vlog. At the time all the materials were sent to me by The MyBlogSpark ladies, the soup and the flip Mino HD video camera to record the Vlog. (Thank you ladies). Well since then the MyBlogSpark ladies have sent me the Chicken Tuscany soup, 2 bowls, and 2 soup spoons to do a review on the soup and offer the bowls, spoons, and soup for a giveaway. First of all the soup has 28% more fiber than their regular soups. The soup was very tasty. It has several healthy ingredients that go together well to make a very delicious soup. The only thing I would have done a little different is less salt.
But the list of ingredients include:

chicken
great northern beans
tomato

zucchini

onions

celery
carrots
spinach

Add all those ingredients plus the extra fiber and you have a delightful tasting, yet healthy soup.
Here are some of the nutritional values:

Progresso also has the high fiber soups in other flavors such as: Creamy Tomato Basil, Hearty Vegetable and Noodle, and Homestyle Minestrone.

As I said earlier in my post the MyBlogSpark ladies are offering one of my readers a Prize Pack which include 2 Progresso Soup Bowls, 2 Progresso Soup Spoons, 1 can of Chicken Tuscany High Fiber Soup.

All you have to do to win this is make an entry here telling us how you incorporate more fiber into your diet.

Brugo Review and Giveaway

Posted by Ellie-A Little of This and a Little of That at 10:48 AM 111 comments
It's no secret that I like to jump start my morning with a nice hot mug of coffee. I like to get up and pour and drink immediately and usually that is just impossible unless I want to burn my mouth. Well I have found a product that makes it easy to do just that. It's called BRUGO. It's a traveling coffee mug that cools the coffee with each sip.

The
BRUGO has 3 choices.
Lock: Which locks the flavor in and makes it impossible to spill.
Sip: Which you are able to do after the coffee has cooled some.
Tip & Cool: Which allows you to sip the coffee the minute it is poured in the cup. Just tip the mug away from you for a few seconds and allow the cooling chamber to fill and then "swirl" it around to cool to the perfect temperature. Sip and enjoy!

They come in 3 different collections: Jazz, Executive, and Sport. It's a very classy looking mug. I was very happy with it and highly recommend it.

A little info about the mug from the website:
  • Patented 2 oz/25 ml Temperature Control Chamber giving you sip by sip satisfaction at the perfect temperature
  • Double-wall insulation
  • 3-position drink mode selector - "Lock, Sip, Tip & Cool" - allowing you perfect taste and temperature control whether you need a bolt of caffeine or prefer to linger over your coffee ritual
  • 16oz / 450ml capacity cup size - a large cup
  • Non-slip bottom keeping your coffee where you put it
  • Ergonomic grip for maximum comfort
  • 13 stylish colors
  • Stainless Steel and Chrome accents
  • Fits all cup holders
You can Purchase BRUGO here: PURCHASE

BRUGO sent me 3 mugs to try out. Which was perfect because I gave one to my husband to get his opinion.

My husband's opinion is: "I thought it was great because I like to have my coffee right away in the morning and now because of BRUGO I can"

2 of my readers can win one. All you have to do is visit the BRUGO website and choose which mug you would like to try and also one thing about the mug you learned from the website. (THIS IS MANDATORY)

EXTRA ENTRIES:
Follow my blog
Blog about this giveaway and link it to BRUGO and me and return with the URL and post it here

Comparison Shopping Right at Your Fingertips!

Posted by Ellie-A Little of This and a Little of That at 10:50 AM 0 comments
That's right. Very convenient especially so close to Christmas. A new website FreshDeals is exactly what this years Christmas shopper is looking for. FreshDeals is a website that does the comparison shopping for you and even connects you to the web page of the company with the best deal. EX: looking for a laptop? Just run your cursor over computers at the top of the page and scroll down to laptops and the first one listed is Dell Inspiron for $649.00, just click the go button and it takes you right to the place that has the best deal and that happens to be Staples. Another great thing about FreshDeals is they have a Q&A section that allows you to ask questions about products and other consumers answer the questions. People that have purchased the product can give you intelligent and honest opinions of the products. Also if you have tried a product recently make sure you leave your feedback for others. I found this section to be quite valuable. But I'm not done there is even more! More you say? How can that possibly be? To make things even easier FreshDeals has a Deals page which lists all your online coupons and all the recent sales that are constantly updating and you can even search for specific products. As you search through the Deals section you may come across web sites you have never heard of but the deals are still deals. I found a Juicer on AllBestTools.com which I had never heard of but the deal was too good to not check out! If you want to share the information with friends FreshDeals even let's you connect through your Facebook account. So this Christmas be a smart shopper and check out FreshDeals it will help relieve the stress of your Christmas shopping! ,,& Blogging

Out of the mouths of babes.

Posted by Ellie-A Little of This and a Little of That at 9:59 AM 7 comments
I have to share with you a conversation I had with my grandson on the phone the other day. He is 5 soon to be 6 in December. Now he has been an only child for 5 years and seems to like it or at least has gotten used to it. His parents, my older son and daughter in law are expecting in November, the 28th to be exact. At first my grandson was very happy about having a baby until he found out it was a girl, then all bets were off. lol This past summer they kept my daughter's little girl while she went though cancer treatment and he really loved having her there. So his attitude came as a surprise to us. Anyhow I was talking to him on the phone and asked him if he was excited about the baby and he had a very distinctive NO. I asked him why he changed his mind he he said "because it's a stoopid girl baby" I spell stupid like that because he drags it out like that. So I said "awe aren't you happy about having a little sister?" He said "NO I'm gonna break off her arm and throw her in the dumpster" So I told him that I loved having a big brother and he'll be that big brother to his sister and he said, "that stoopid girl baby isn't touching or playing with any of my toys." Now between me laughing so hard because deep down inside I know he doesn't mean it, and him saying "Grandma are you crying about the stoopid girl baby too?" I said no grandma is excited about the girl baby, a pretty little sister for you and grandma can buy her pretty dresses to wear, and I'll buy you something too of course." He said "I'll take those stoopid dresses and throw them in the stoopid dumpster with that stoopid girl baby." The conversation was actually very funny.

Then we got to talking about what he would name her if he let her come home and he said "poophead dragon" I think this is where I spit soda on my screen as I was sitting by my computer. So I said to him "don't you want to give her a pretty little girls name?" He said "nope she's a stoopid girl and she can lay in the dumpster and her name is poophead dragon." Needless to say I tried to change the subject after that. So we talked about school, but he doesn't like that because he's bored............Out of the mouths of babes.

Life Style Changes

Posted by Ellie-A Little of This and a Little of That at 11:54 AM 29 comments
Recently I decided to do a review that goes hand in hand with what I found out from my doctor last week. He told me I am diabetic. Now if any of you really read my blog, you will know I am a BIG snacker. So when the doctor told me this news and he told me that it would be life altering, I think it hit me worse that when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Because deep down inside I knew I would beat the cancer, whereas Diabetes sticks with me for life. It's depressing. I have felt all kinds of emotions, scared, angry, sad and much more. Well this is kind of where my next review comes in. Have you ever heard of Habitwise? From the website: Habitwise products are designed to help you make better decisions while you develop healthy habits. Habitwise however is not a substitute for medical advice. So Habitwise sent me getLoss for women. This includes: Bracelets. They have warm and cool colors, I chose the warm colors. They also have getLoss for men, getTracking for kids, getWet for both men and women.

2-yellow bracelets (stands for oil choices)
3-white bracelets (stands for milk choices)
3-purple bracelets (stands for meat choices)
6-green bracelets(stands for vegetable choices)
3-pink bracelets(stands for fruit choices)
5-gold bracelets(stands for grain choices)
8-blue bracelets (stands for water choices)

There are 2 scenarios to use the getLoss which are: Following food Groups, or Counting Calories. I chose Counting Calories. I started by visiting MyPyramind.gov. According to them because of my weight and height I need to be on an 1,800 cal daily diet, which I brought down to 1,500 calories.

So what you start out with every morning on one wrist, I chose my left to start is 30 bracelets. One bracelet is 50 calories so as I eat my calories I move the bracelets to the right wrist. EX: I eat an orange-100 calories, then I move 2 bracelets to the right wrist then when you have moved all bracelets, you have eaten your 1500 calorie diet. You get the idea. Well I was very skeptical at first, and there were a few days that I didn't do what I was supposed too, too busy and forgot to count the calories, or forgot to move the bracelets. But once I got used to it, I used it and buckled down and really paid attention and it has helped. I have lost 11 pounds in 3 weeks. Not a lot but it's a start. It's a very interesting weight loss program, however I don't think it's for everyone. I liked it, but not really sure how long I will stick with it. Visit Habitwise and see for yourself.

Habitwise is giving one of my readers a chance to win a getLoss for women kit. All you have to do is visit Habitwise and choose the kit you would like to try and also tell me a little about the history of Habitwise.
(THIS IS MANDATORY)
