I'm Cuckoo for Coconut-Tropical Traditions Coconut that is

Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 7:15 PM 128 comments
Awhile ago I did a review about Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions. Well they allowed me to do another review about their wonderful Coconut Chips. I received a gallon jug of Coconut Chips. 100% natural Coconut chips are made from organic dried coconuts from the Philippines. They are also grown without pesticides and fertilizers and are not sweetened, and contain no additives or preservatives. You can use them for many things, there are many recipes they can be used in. There is also a page with coconut recipes. http://www.freecoconutrecipes.com/ I used them in Trail mix which consisted of: chex raisins pecans granola sunflower seeds pretzels I also used them in dried fruit which consisted of: dried banana chips dried apricots dried cranberries dried papaya dried chunks of pineapple I actually make two different bowls because I don't really like apricots. We put them on top of cereal, I made a coconut cake and sprinkled the top with them. But the most interesting thing we do with the coconut chips is throw them in the coffee grinder with chocolate coffee beans and grind it all together and make coffee that tastes like a Mounds Bar. Delicious. It also says you can eat them alone as a snack, but I wasn't real thrilled by that. I preferred mine with something else. But that is my taste. They also have cleaning products, skin care products, and pet products. Tropical Traditions is giving away a Gallon of Coconut Chips to one of lucky readers. All you have to do is visit Tropical Traditions and choose a product you would like to try and return and post here on my blog. What a Small World After all-Los Lobos Goes Disney.

Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 11:26 AM 6 comments
I was contacted by Elissa from the Music Marketing Company Total Assualt and she asked if I would be willing to review the new Los Lobos Going to Disney CD and write a little something on my blog. I agreed. She is also offering a giveaway of One CD to a lucky reader. Now when I was contacted I thought it may be a little weird Los Lobos singing Disney, but I have to tell you, it's a great CD and I will be copying it to my iPod. It has all my favorite Disney songs, with a little Mexican twist. You really have to hear it to appreciate it. It actually came out in stores yesterday 10/27/09. Here are the songs that are on it:
  1. Heigh-Ho - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
  2. I Wan'na Be Like You - The Jungle Book
  3. Not in Nottingham - Robin Hood
  4. The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room - The Enchanted Tiki Room
  5. Grim Grinning Ghosts - Haunted Mansion
  6. I Will Go Sailing No More - Toy Story
  7. The Ugly Bug Ball - Summer Magic
  8. Cruella De Vil - 101 Dalmations
  9. Bella Notte - Lady and the Tramp
  10. Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah - Song of the South
  11. The Bare Necessities - The Jungle Book
  12. Oo-De-Lally - Robin Hood
  13. When You Wish Upon a Star/It's a Small World - Pinocchio/It's a Small World
Since they are giving me a CD to giveaway I would like you to post what your favorite Disney Movie is: (This will be Mandatory). Chic Moderne Review and Giveaway

Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 2:48 PM 58 comments
About a month ago I was looking around on the Blog Friendly PR and came across this website Chic Moderne. So I went to the website to look around and decided I would contact them to see if the were interested in a Review and Giveaway. I emailed Patti and she very kindly answered my email and agreed to a Review and Giveaway. She sent me one of their Hand-Milled French soaps. I received the Lemongrass. Now I'm not usually a big fan of fruity scents. I use like Cucumber Melon soap, which does have some fruit but also the Cucumber to cut down on the fruity smell. I received the box in the mail and didn't smell any strong fruity smell through the box. I opened the box and took the round shaped bar of soap out and all I could smell was a light lemony scent. Nothing too strong. I was happy. I showered with it the following day and lathered up with it and all I could smell was a very light lemony smell. I liked it. These soaps are handcrafted in Province, and triple milled with shea butter. Chic Moderne not only sells soaps they sell Briefcases, Handbags, Portfolios, Notebooks, Small Accessories, and even All Natural Austrian Candles. Chic Moderne is offering a giveaway of one of their Hand-Milled French Soaps to one of my readers. Here are the scents she has: Verbena, Honey, Almond, and French Cologne. It will be your choice. All you have to do is visit the Chic Moderne Website and choose a product you would like to try then return to my blog and post it there. (You must do this or you will be disqualified). EXTRA ENTRIES: Follow My Blog Blog about the giveaway linking it to Chic Moderne and me and return with the URL. Dolce & Gabana Light Blue

Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 1:49 PM 217 comments
When I think of Dolce & Gabana I think of class, and when I think Of Dolce & Gabana Light Blue I think of not only class but also beauty . I LOVE this scent, it makes you feel beautiful and sexy. You have to try it. It's not too strong, not too light, it's just perfect. I only wear a few perfumes. I wear Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise, Marc Jacobs Daisy, and now this Dolce & Gabana Light Blue. It's my new favorite. I was lucky enough to try the D & G Light Blue because the great people at FragranceNet.com allowed me to review it. They sent me a 3.4 oz bottle of the EDT Spray. It's a mixture of rose, musk, apple, and jasmine. When you put them all together you get comfort in a bottle. It has a such a calming effect and makes you feel sexy. I sometimes have trouble smelling scents on me after a few hours but not this, it lasted I would say about 5 or 6 hours. I got many compliments when I wore it, and there is some satisfaction when I can tell someone I am wearing Dolce & Gabana. You feel classy. FragranceNet.com not only sells perfumes they sell skin care, make up, hair products, candles, and aromatherapy products. FragranceNet.com offers free shipping on US orders over $70.00. They also have a coupon list you can join. They are also running a giveaway for a $250.00 shopping spree. You can reach all of these from the home page, they are pop-ups. Now the retail price of this is about $80.00, but you can get it at FragranceNet.com for about $65.00. or one of my readers can win a bottle. All you have to do is visit FragranceNet.com and choose the scent you would like to try and the year the perfume was introduced, it's listed right on the page of the perfume of your choice. (MANDATORY) EXTRA ENTRIES: Follow my Blog Blog about the giveaway and link to FragranceNet.com and me and return and leave the URL. Let's Spice It Up

Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 12:21 PM 0 comments
About a month ago the lovely ladies at TSP Spices agreed to send me a can from their Holiday Sets of Organic Spices. They have several to choose from and I chose the Bird in Hand which included 12 one teaspoon packets of organic herbs such as: Sage, Thyme, Rosemary, and Marjoram. The main thing I want to say about these spices is they are Fresh with no additives or fillers! You can taste the vibrant fresh spice taste on whatever you use them on. The one teaspoon packets are a perfect size to spice up any kitchen and come in tins that protect the spices from light and air and keep them fresh. When you're finished with the spices, you can use the cans to keep collectibles, small items, or they can be recycled. We used the spices on several different food items to see how they would taste. We tried the Thyme on chicken, and it was so fresh and you could actually taste the Thyme with each bite of chicken. We also made a Pork Tenderloin and used a little of each spice on that. It was delicious. You could taste the distinct taste of each spice. Now we normally buy the fresh spices at the supermarket that are kept in the produce section and love them. However the TSP Spices are fresher than any spices we have ever purchased there. We also tried the spices on steak. I won't use anything else now. I will be purchasing my spices from TSP Spices. A little about the ladies from TSP Spices from their website: We are a couple of Southern girls who wandered north, established careers, married and became moms. We met and discovered shared passions for absorbing work, creative challenges and good mayonnaise on a ripe tomato. Each of us had accomplished careers – Katie as an art historian and museum curator and Sara as an editor and columnist for daily newspapers. But we found ourselves at turning points. Conversations and ideas built on one another and soon, like a couple of 15th century explorers, we had visions of spices dancing in our heads. Ours were not of camel caravans or full-masted ships sailing uncharted seas. We dreamed instead of orderly supplies of spices bursting with flavor rather than wasting away in the back of the cabinet. They also have a blog with delicious recipes, check it out: TSP Blog. You can order your own either individual spices or collections at TSP Spices ,,& Blogging

Aloha! Best Coffee EVER Review & Giveaway

Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 12:07 PM 183 comments
I love Coffee. I mostly love flavored coffees. I was surfing around and came across the Coffee Store website www.mauicoffee.com and decided I would contact them to see if they would let me review their coffee and offer a giveaway and they agreed. I impatiently waited for the delivery of the coffee after reading all the testimonials on their website http://www.mauicoffee.com/about_us/index.php?tid=55. Then finally, I heard the truck, peeked out the window and saw Mr. Fedex drop a package at my front door and I knew, I could just smell the delicious coffee through the front door. I opened the door and literally ripped into the package and 3 80z packages of the BEST smelling coffee EVER, fell out. Now we always have a big mug of coffee in the morning and also with dinner and it was about 2 hours before dinner and I was getting so excited trying to decide which coffee I would try first. The flavors I received were (you better sit down for this) Banana Nut Cream(heavenly), Coconut Cream(just like biting into a Coconut Cream pie) and Kona Fancy(unbelievable taste). Two flavored and one not, but the Kona Fancy is a high-end 100% Kona coffee, one of the finest Hawaii has to offer. We tried the Kona Fancy first. It was the most unbelievably rich, roasted coffee taste you will ever experience. My mouth is watering as I type this. My kitchen smelled like a coffee shop. I'm serious, I can't say enough about the Kona Fancy coffee. The next morning we had the Banana Nut coffee and it was amazing. It tasted like you were biting into a piece of Banana Nut Cake or Cheesecake. Then that evening for dinner we had the Coconut Cream (my personal favorite) and it was like taking a piece of Coconut Cream Pie and blending it up in a blender and pouring it in a glass and drinking it. Now for the best part, The Coffee Store is giving 2 of my readers 3 80z bags of the flavored coffee for themselves to enjoy. All you have to do is visit The Coffee Store and choose the kind of coffee you would like to try and also tell me something you learned about The Coffee Store. Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 1:26 PM 73 comments
If you are a faithful reader of my blog then you know I have had some issues with hot flashes from early menopause and hot flashes from the Chemotherapy drugs. We have this huge, pretty heavy comforter on the bed, which Gary loves as he gets cold a lot, and I end up throwing off me about 25 times a night. So I had been looking for a lighter blanket for me to use, something that will keep me warm when needed, but cool when needed. Is there such a blanket? I looked and looked and finally came across this website called "Dream Sacks" and started perusing through their products and there it was.....The blanket I had been looking for. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 10:29 AM 0 comments
Its so ironic. This is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I am getting my Med Port Removed (finally) next Friday on the 9th., then my Mammogram on Thursday the 15th. Scary month. I really hate to get that mammogram, as I am petrified. Is that something I am going to feel each time? It's amazing how you can get other illnesses like Rheumatoid Arthritis and not have the same dire fear about your future. I have moderate Rheumatoid Arthritis and some days can't get out of bed, but I am not petrified to get my routine tests for that. Breast Cancer is a very scary thing, as it can creep up on you without your even knowing it.

An estimated 192,370 U.S. women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009
.
An estimate 2.5 million living in the United States have a history of Breast Cancer.
In 2009 an estimated 440 men will die fro Breast Cancer.
One out of eight American women who live to be 85 years of age will develop breast cancer, a risk that was one out of 14 in 1960.

Here are some websites about Breast Cancer that I found helpful.
http://www.breastcancer.org/
http://www.chemoangels.net/
http://csn.cancer.org/forum/127
http://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/
http://apps.komen.org/Forums/
http://www.healthwellfoundation.org/- They will help financially
http://www.breastcancersociety.org/- They will help financially
http://www.copays.org/- They will help with co-pay reimbursement

Please, if you're diagnosed with Breast Cancer, ask questions, do research. It's tough financially. If Gary's parents weren't there to pay my monthly insurance premiums, I would have been in big trouble. They paid monthly with a smile on their face, and refuse to be paid back. They are constantly giving us gift cards to Giant, Trader Joe's for groceries. They are truly amazing people. Well sorry I kind of got off the subject there, just thought people should know how LUCKY I was. But check out those websites if you need help financially.

Here is some info from the website:
Symptoms of Breast Cancer
The most common symptom of breast cancer is a small lump of abnormal tissue that can be detecting in the breast by performing a self-diagnosis. Doctors can also use mammograms to search the breast for abnormal tissues that may signal the presence of cancer.
Women and men with breast cancer may also notice pain or changes in the breast’s appearance. These are not reliable symptoms of breast cancer because they are present in a variety of breast disease, but those who experience them should most certainly see their doctors to have a full diagnosis.
Causes of Breast Cancer
There are several genetic and environmental factors that can influence breast cancer development. Those who have a family history of breast cancer are at a higher risk of developing the disease themselves.
This does not mean that men and women have to rely on their genetic luck to avoid cancer. Some of the factors are easily controlled. For instance, tobacco and frequent alcohol use have been linked to higher instances of breast cancer in women. Weight gain can also put a woman at higher risk, especially if it occurs after menopause. Please refer to our Breast Cancer Information section for more cancer related information.
