Wanchai Ferry Review and Coupon Giveaway

Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 4:34 PM 29 comments
Recently General Mills and Pssst sent me some sample bags of Wanchai Ferry frozen meals. They let me choose 2 flavors out of the five flavors they have. I chose Shrimp Lo Mein and Spicy Garlic Chicken. We had the Shrimp Lo Mein first. It contains shrimp of course, hence the name Shrimp Lo Mein, and Asian style vegetables like julienne carrots, sweet red peppers and baby cob corn. There is also a serving of lo mein noodles that steam perfectly in your microwave for 2 minutes. It's all pulled together with a delightful, soy, ginger and garlic lo mein sauce. It's a very tasty dish, a little on the sweet side. It's an enjoyable meal for two. Next we had the Spicy Garlic Chicken, which is spicy hot with a hint of sweetness. It has lightly battered chicken breast pieces that remain crispy even after preparation. Included is Asian Style vegetables like water chestnuts, broccoli florets, red peppers and julienne carrots. It's all pulled together with a tasty glaze of sweet roasted garlic and chilies for the right amount of heat that tops Jasmine Rice after it steams in the microwave for about 2 minutes.

Well along with the meals they sent me they also sent 10 coupons for $3.50 off of one meal. The retail price is $7.49 so it will be half price. I will pick 2 winners. Each will receive 5 coupons for the $3.50 off. (expire 12/09)

All you have to do is visit their website and choose one of the meals you prefer and return here and post it. (This is mandatory) http://www.wanchaiferry.com/Default.aspx

Rob Salamida Co. review

Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 11:05 AM 0 comments
Awhile ago I ran across a website called Rob Salamida Co. Rob sells sauces, marinades and gourmet spices. I contacted Rob to see if he would let me try his product and he kindly said yes. He sent me 2 of the Original State Fair Spiedie Sauces and 2 of the Pinch Italian gourmet spices. We used the Spiedie sauce like a marinade on chicken, pork and flank steak. It was outstanding! Gave the meat such a delicious flavor not to mention tenderizing it a bit. The Pinch spices we sprinkled on vegetables, pastas and rice. It really gave it a gourmet flavor, maybe a tad more salt flavor than I like but nonetheless, good. You can order your own by visiting Rob's site: http://www.spiedie.com/.

How young is too young

Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 11:09 AM 7 comments
I'm talking about cell phones for kids. I have seen or read about kids 6 years old having cell phones. the advertisement says stuff like "The cell phone for busy parents" WTH is that?? We are giving our 6 year olds a cell phone because the parents are busy?? Seriously? I think about my kids at the age of 6 and there is no way they could handle a cell phone, nor would I have allowed them too. So do you think kids are using cell phones way too early? I ask this because I saw a news story the other day that someone is now texting kids saying they are "Jenny" and they are texting with different threatening messages, but the one story was being told by a mom whose 10 year old son received the message from "Jenny" saying she is dead and her father killed her and if he didn't go and kill her father she would be waiting for him by his bed that night and she would slice his neck and his parents would find him floating in the bathtub overflowing with water and blood.. The kid was so scared he doesn't leave his mom's side now, even in the house. Here's a link to the story with video you should watch it: http://www.nbc-2.com/Global/story.asp?S=10739167

Remember when we didn't have cell phones? We just told our children to be at a certain place at a certain time and picked them up. Or God forbid the child actually used a land line phone. Advertising doesn't help either. Have you seen all the cell phones out there strictly for kids? They have the Disney Phone, Firefly, Tictalk, and Verizon even has one the Migo, and they are designed just for kids. Now I do understand that parents want their kids safe and I believe that is why some parents supply the phones. But seriously if your child is in danger how likely is it he/she will be able to use that phone anyhow? So please comment on this I want people's opinions. I want to know what parents think. Don't hate me for my opinion, remember everyone is entitled to their own.....

It's like biting into a little slice of Heaven :)

When I contacted Fairytale Brownies to see if I could review and see if they would offer a giveaway on my blog, I never expected to enjoy brownies that were so much like homemade. I was sent the "Fairytale Sprite Favorites." It consisted of: 2 Chocolate Chip 2 Caramel 2 Peanut Butter 2 Walnut 2 Toffee Crunch These all came in a beautiful purple, starry box with a silver lining. The amazing flavors, unbelievable. They were so fresh, they each came individually wrapped. When you open the package (depending on what flavor of brownie) the smell wafts out of the bag. The peanut butter, the Toffee, Chocolate chips. Then biting into the delicious smelling soft rectangular shaped full of flavor, fresh, chocolaty, melt in your mouth. You just have to experience it yourself. They are amazing!!!! A little about the company: Founders/ Owners: Eileen Spitalny & David Kravetz. It was founded in 1992 by these 2 childhood friends. They started out in a friend's, not any longer they are now overseeing their direct-mail gourmet brownie business in a facility where they now bake over 2.5 million brownies annually. Every now and then they have specials and this months special is free shipping on an order of $30.00 or more. This is only good until 08/31/09. They even ship as far as Alaska and Hawaii. One more thing I wanted to mention that I found interesting is that since 2001 Fairytale Brownies has been donating funds and brownies to a national nonprofit organization called KaBoom. Kaboom helps communities build playgrounds and since Eileen and David met on their kindergarten playground it was only fitting they joined Kaboom. One of my readers is going to get the chance to find out when they win The fairytale Sprite Favorites. All you have to do is visit the Fairytale Brownies website and pick your favorite Brownies. Return back here and post which ones you found you liked. THIS IS MANDATORY AND MUST BE DONE FIRST!!!!! Extra entries: Follow my blog Follow me on Twitter (elliejf) Tweet this about the giveaway: Enter to win 1 dozen Fairytale Brownies:http://alittleoftheother.blogspot.com/2009/07/its-like-biting-into-little-slice-of.html Blog about my giveaway and link it to Fairytale Brownies and me then come back here with the URL where it's posted. The Sweet Long Lasting Smell of Success Giveaway!

Posted by Ellie Pongratz at 3:49 PM 76 comments
That's what The Cream Perfume Company has accomplished with their Nuts Crème de Parfum. Out of the 10 scents 5 of them are organic. I didn't review any of the organic ones. They come in nut shaped .35 oz /10g sizes. Prices vary but same sizes. Non organic are $19.95, and the Organic ones are $21.95. The Cream Perfumes are all made with natural ingredients: 63% sweet almond oil 20% parfum, and 17% beeswax. There is no alcohol ingredients at all. The Cream Perfume Company sent me several scents to try and review. The first scent is:Ylang Ylang: Exhilarating scents of Ylang Ylang, mandarin, and jasmine, trailed by notes of apricot, cedar wood, orange flower, patchouli and musk.
2nd is: Mimosa bouquet: Fresh blend of
orange blossom, and green notes. Heart
notes of mimosa, gardenia, carnation and
rose of turkey follow, culminating in a fusion
of vanilla Madagascar and musk.

3rd is: Melon d'eau: sensual blend of orange,
melon, violet, jasmine, and Lilly of the valley.
with a radiant blend of marine accord and
musk.
4th is: Apricot Chypre: crisp fruity fusion of
black currant, apricot, green notes, Lilly of
the valley and raspberry. Closes with Jasmine,
sandalwood and musk.

5th is: Mango poudr'e: Seductive scents of
mango and cassis balanced with timeless
Jasmin and candy sugar accord. Tropical
favorite with sandalwood, musk, and vanilla.

They were all lovely scents and the best
part is they last all day. Since it's cream
you just rub it on your finger and dab it on
instead of spray. I have to say my favorite was
Ylang Ylang, I put it on in the morning and by
evening you could still smell it.

From the website: The items marked
organic are 100% natural with 100% of the
ingredients (essential oils, sweet almond oil,
beeswax) certified organic by ECOCERT,
QAI and OTCO. Items not marked as
organic are blends of pure essential oils and
fragrance oils using the same natural
carrier of sweet almond oil and beeswax.
All our products contain a minimum of 80%
natural ingredients.

The Cream Perfume company is giving one of my readers a chance to pick 3 different scents and that will be sent in a nice wooden box :)
