I disagree! I really believe it's so important for woman to get yearly mammograms. After loosing my Mother in Law this past year to breast cancer, I feel that it is a womans right to get a mammogram yearly. Thanks.

I disagree with the new guidelines. Quite a few women have had breast cancer detected with a mammogram in the 40-49 age group. I look at it as any kind of preventative care. Everyone's health is their own responsibility but I think it's ridiculous to say you shouldn't bother getting tested. They say that there are so many "false alarms" and unneeded biopsies....I would much rather have a false alarm than risk having a more difficult to treat breast cancer.

I disagree. Early prevention is everything. I think every women should get a base line at 30 and then start once a year at 40 if there aren't any problems.
I also disagree with the new guidelines. Many lives have been saved in the 40-49 age group due to yearly mammogram screenings. I am in that age group and I do not intend to follow the new recommendations. Thanks for the giveaway!

I totally, totally disagree. Early detection is crucial. My best friend died of breast cancer at 28 and my step sister got breast cancer at 31 and had to have a mastectomy. She had to argue with her doctor for over a year to get a mammogram and it was almost to late. It just seems like they want to save money, money that they will give to another program that already has to much funding already...

I think yearly mammograms have helped many women and we should have them yearly.
i think they are horrible as early detection is important thanks minsthins at optonline dot net
Disagree. Early detection can save lives.
I disagree with their new recommended guidelines. I fear that insurance companies will not help in covering for mammograms even less now (preventative care is what I believe this falls under) for younger women when who have a family history and or find lumps.
I disagree. I think women should be encouraged to go yearly! My mom is a mamographer and she has seen some sad cases where people waited too long to get checked.

i THINK IT IS OUTRAGEOUS !!!! i ONLY PRAY TO GOD, THAT THE INSURANCE COMPANYS DON'T CHANGE THEIR GUIDELINES BECAUSE OF THIS!!!
I disagree too! I think they should do screenings even earlier than they do now, not older. My grandmother passed away from breast cancer, as did 2 of her sisters.

I completely disagree with the new recommendations. Those are a slap in the face to women! And them saying that self breast exams do not work is a pile of doo doo -- many women I know found their lumps by self breast exams and were able to get early treatment and SURVIVE!
I disagree. Must have been a bunch of men making that recommendation.
i disagree, early detection is key and i hear a lot of women are diagnosed before 40 never mind 50s - regnod(at)yahoo(d0t)com

Great question and I strongly disagree with these new proposed guidelines. We've all known women who never would have discovered early breast cancer if it weren't for a mammogram well before they were in their 50s.

skstigger@hotmail.com
I don't have a history of breast cancer specifically in my family, but a number of my ancesters, including my dad, have died with various types of cancers. I feel safer having a mammogram every year. I feel like reducing the recommendations is kowtowing to insurance companies that don't want to pay for a mammogram every year.
I disagree, its very important to get a mammogram every year. My grandmother died of breast cancer and I think that its important to keep up to date with your check ups. Thanks!

Well...I agree with the recommendation, unless a woman has a family history or is at a higher than normal risk for breast cancer.
Also, I believe that a woman and her doctor should have the final say on any kind of screening.
it's better to be cautious.

I disagree simply because this gives insurance companies even more ammunition to not cover mammograms. They save lives! Early detection is absolutely the key to survival and this change will make it harder and more expensive to get a mammogram.

I totally disagree with their guidlines. early detection is extremely important and I feel the exams should be at the discretion of the patient and the doctor and the circumstances at hand. As a husband and father of a teenage daughter, I find these guidelines outrageous.

I think that you should be able to get a mammogram once a year. Early detection of a cancerous lump can be treated better than one that has been there a long time

I disagree because I think it is simply a cost-cutting measure. I don't understand how they can suggest that it's a bad idea for women to be screened in their 40s. Many women are diagnosed with breast cancer before age 50.
