Out of the mouths of babes.

9:59 AM Posted by elliej

I have to share with you a conversation I had with my grandson on the phone the other day. He is 5 soon to be 6 in December. Now he has been an only child for 5 years and seems to like it or at least has gotten used to it. His parents, my older son and daughter in law are expecting in November, the 28th to be exact. At first my grandson was very happy about having a baby until he found out it was a girl, then all bets were off. lol This past summer they kept my daughter's little girl while she went though cancer treatment and he really loved having her there. So his attitude came as a surprise to us. Anyhow I was talking to him on the phone and asked him if he was excited about the baby and he had a very distinctive NO. I asked him why he changed his mind he he said "because it's a stoopid girl baby" I spell stupid like that because he drags it out like that. So I said "awe aren't you happy about having a little sister?" He said "NO I'm gonna break off her arm and throw her in the dumpster" So I told him that I loved having a big brother and he'll be that big brother to his sister and he said, "that stoopid girl baby isn't touching or playing with any of my toys." Now between me laughing so hard because deep down inside I know he doesn't mean it, and him saying "Grandma are you crying about the stoopid girl baby too?" I said no grandma is excited about the girl baby, a pretty little sister for you and grandma can buy her pretty dresses to wear, and I'll buy you something too of course." He said "I'll take those stoopid dresses and throw them in the stoopid dumpster with that stoopid girl baby." The conversation was actually very funny.

Then we got to talking about what he would name her if he let her come home and he said "poophead dragon" I think this is where I spit soda on my screen as I was sitting by my computer. So I said to him "don't you want to give her a pretty little girls name?" He said "nope she's a stoopid girl and she can lay in the dumpster and her name is poophead dragon." Needless to say I tried to change the subject after that. So we talked about school, but he doesn't like that because he's bored............Out of the mouths of babes.

Life Style Changes

11:54 AM Posted by elliej

Recently I decided to do a review that goes hand in hand with what I found out from my doctor last week. He told me I am diabetic. Now if any of you really read my blog, you will know I am a BIG snacker. So when the doctor told me this news and he told me that it would be life altering, I think it hit me worse that when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Because deep down inside I knew I would beat the cancer, whereas Diabetes sticks with me for life. It's depressing. I have felt all kinds of emotions, scared, angry, sad and much more. Well this is kind of where my next review comes in. Have you ever heard of Habitwise? From the website: Habitwise products are designed to help you make better decisions while you develop healthy habits. Habitwise however is not a substitute for medical advice. So Habitwise sent me getLoss for women. This includes: Bracelets. They have warm and cool colors, I chose the warm colors. They also have getLoss for men, getTracking for kids, getWet for both men and women.

2-yellow bracelets (stands for oil choices)
3-white bracelets (stands for milk choices)
3-purple bracelets (stands for meat choices)
6-green bracelets(stands for vegetable choices)
3-pink bracelets(stands for fruit choices)
5-gold bracelets(stands for grain choices)
8-blue bracelets (stands for water choices)

There are 2 scenarios to use the getLoss which are: Following food Groups, or Counting Calories. I chose Counting Calories. I started by visiting MyPyramind.gov. According to them because of my weight and height I need to be on an 1,800 cal daily diet, which I brought down to 1,500 calories.

So what you start out with every morning on one wrist, I chose my left to start is 30 bracelets. One bracelet is 50 calories so as I eat my calories I move the bracelets to the right wrist. EX: I eat an orange-100 calories, then I move 2 bracelets to the right wrist then when you have moved all bracelets, you have eaten your 1500 calorie diet. You get the idea. Well I was very skeptical at first, and there were a few days that I didn't do what I was supposed too, too busy and forgot to count the calories, or forgot to move the bracelets. But once I got used to it, I used it and buckled down and really paid attention and it has helped. I have lost 11 pounds in 3 weeks. Not a lot but it's a start. It's a very interesting weight loss program, however I don't think it's for everyone. I liked it, but not really sure how long I will stick with it. Visit Habitwise and see for yourself.

Habitwise is giving one of my readers a chance to win a getLoss for women kit. All you have to do is visit Habitwise and choose the kit you would like to try and also tell me a little about the history of Habitwise.

I'm Cuckoo for Coconut-Tropical Traditions Coconut that is

7:15 PM Posted by elliej

Awhile ago I did a review about Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions. Well they allowed me to do another review about their wonderful Coconut Chips. I received a gallon jug of Coconut Chips. 100% natural Coconut chips are made from organic dried coconuts from the Philippines. They are also grown without pesticides and fertilizers and are not sweetened, and contain no additives or preservatives. You can use them for many things, there are many recipes they can be used in. There is also a page with coconut recipes.

http://www.freecoconutrecipes.com/

I used them in Trail mix which consisted of:

chex

raisins

pecans
granola

sunflower seeds
pretzels

I also used them in dried fruit which consisted of:
dried banana chips
dried apricots
dried cranberries
dried papaya
dried chunks of pineapple
I actually make two different bowls because I don't really like apricots. We put them on top of cereal, I made a coconut cake and sprinkled the top with them.
But the most interesting thing we do with the coconut chips is throw them in the coffee grinder with chocolate coffee beans and grind it all together and make coffee that tastes like a Mounds Bar. Delicious. It also says you can eat them alone as a snack, but I wasn't real thrilled by that. I preferred mine with something else. But that is my taste.

They also have cleaning products, skin care products, and pet products.

Tropical Traditions is giving away a Gallon of Coconut Chips to one of lucky readers. All you have to do is visit Tropical Traditions and choose a product you would like to try and return and post here on my blog. (THIS IS MANDATORY)

What a Small World After all-Los Lobos Goes Disney.

11:26 AM Posted by elliej

I was contacted by Elissa from the Music Marketing Company Total Assualt and she asked if I would be willing to review the new Los Lobos Going to Disney CD and write a little something on my blog. I agreed. She is also offering a giveaway of One CD to a lucky reader. Now when I was contacted I thought it may be a little weird Los Lobos singing Disney, but I have to tell you, it's a great CD and I will be copying it to my iPod. It has all my favorite Disney songs, with a little Mexican twist. You really have to hear it to appreciate it. It actually came out in stores yesterday 10/27/09.

Here are the songs that are on it:
  1. Heigh-Ho - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
  2. I Wan'na Be Like You - The Jungle Book
  3. Not in Nottingham - Robin Hood
  4. The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room - The Enchanted Tiki Room
  5. Grim Grinning Ghosts - Haunted Mansion
  6. I Will Go Sailing No More - Toy Story
  7. The Ugly Bug Ball - Summer Magic
  8. Cruella De Vil - 101 Dalmations
  9. Bella Notte - Lady and the Tramp
  10. Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah - Song of the South
  11. The Bare Necessities - The Jungle Book
  12. Oo-De-Lally - Robin Hood
  13. When You Wish Upon a Star/It's a Small World - Pinocchio/It's a Small World

Since they are giving me a CD to giveaway I would like you to post what your favorite Disney Movie is: (This will be Mandatory).

Chic Moderne Review and Giveaway

2:48 PM Posted by elliej

About a month ago I was looking around on the Blog Friendly PR and came across this website Chic Moderne.
So I went to the website to look around and decided I would contact them to see if the were int
erested in a Review and Giveaway. I emailed Patti and she very kindly answered my email and agreed to a Review and Giveaway. She sent me one of their Hand-Milled French soaps. I received the Lemongrass. Now I'm not usually a big fan of fruity scents. I use like Cucumber Melon soap, which does have some fruit but also the Cucumber to cut down on the fruity smell.

I received the box in the mail and didn't smell any strong fruity smell through the box. I opened the box and took the round shaped bar of soap out and all I could smell was a light lemony scent. Nothing too strong. I was happy. I showered with it the following day and lathered up with it and all I could smell was a very light lemony smell. I liked it. These soaps are handcrafted in Province, and triple milled with shea butter.

Chic Moderne not only sells soaps they sell Briefcases, Handbags, Portfolios, Notebooks, Small Accessories, and even All Natural Austrian Candles.

Chic Moderne is offering a giveaway of one of their Hand-Milled French Soaps to one of my readers. Here are the scents she has: Verbena, Honey, Almond, and French Cologne. It will be your choice.
All you have to do is visit the Chic Moderne Website and choose a product you would like to try then return to my blog and post it there. (

It's a mixture of rose, musk, apple, and jasmine. When you put them all together you get comfort in a bottle. It has a such a calming effect and makes you feel sexy. I sometimes have trouble smelling scents on me after a few hours but not this, it lasted I would say about 5 or 6 hours.
